My Story

I am named after the state of California and the University of California. I was discovered by Glenn T. Seaborg, Stanley G. Thompson, Albert Ghiorso, and Kenneth Street, but mainly produced by Ghiorso in 1950.

I am a manmade element that was made by bombarding curium with helium ions.
