It is a rare earth metal found in minerals such as xenotime, monazite and bastnaesite.It is hard to seperate this element from the compounds its in.
The first time they found the element it was as dysprosium oxide, Identified in 1886 by Paul-Emile Lecoq de Boisbaudran.
They use me in CD Disks.
Sources of infrared radiation and are used for studying chemical reactions.
