Erbium

My Properties

I am soild at 298k and i am silvery white and metallic. and im not available because i am rare.

I contain
Atomic radius (empirical): [/pm] 175
and Atomic radius(Calculated [/pm]: 226

My Uses:

what i am used for

I melt at a 1770 [or 1497 °C (2727 °F)] Erbium - Chemistry with Mr. Olson
and i boil at a 3141 [or 2868 °C (5194 °F)] (liquid range: 1371 K)

My Home
(Body, Planet, Universe)

ppb (parts per billion)= 1 billion = 109)
The universe uses 2 ppb weight of Erbium and 0.01 ppb of an atom.

There is no data for Erbium containing the human body.

There is no data for Erbium containing the earth as well.

My Story

Erbium was discovered in Ytterby a town in Sweden by a man named Carl Gustaf Mosander in 1843. Gustav Mosander separated "yttria", found in the mineral gadolinite, into three fractions which he called yttria, erbia, and terbia. The confusino of names led the named Erbia to Terbia, and later discovered that Erbia consists of five oxsides. in 1943 Klemm and Bommer produced pure Erbium metal by decreasing the anhydrous chloride with potassium vapour.

My Jobs

I am used in nuclear technology and i also lower hardness and make it workable. And im used as a fiber optic laser amplifier.
