Compounds for Lithium:
  1. Lithium hydroxide is use to removed carbon dioxide from spacecrafts.
  2. Lithium is the lightest known metal and is thus alloyed with aluminum, magnese, copper, and cadium to make strong, lightweight metals for aircrafts.
  3. Also used in all-purpose lubricants.
  4. Lithium carbonate therapy is now used on manic depression (but the action on the brain is not fully understood).
  5. Lithium hydroxide is used to absorb carbon dioxide from spacecrafts.

Lithium Iron magnese

Johann August Arfvedson discovered lithium in the mineral petalite in 1817. The name lithium is origin from the Greek word lithios, which means stone.

Uses for Lithium
  1. Lithium (compounds) are most commonly used in batteries. Lithium makes many special glasses and ceramics, including Mount Palomar telescope's 200 inch mirror.
  2. Lithium has the highest specific heat of any solid element and so heat transfer applications.
  3. Used in various nuclear applications.
